The Food Technology Association of JCT College of Engineering and Technology was inaugurated by Dr. R. Kathiravan, Designated Officer (FSSAI), Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, Coimbatore on 18/08/2015, 11.30 A.M with Dr. G. Ramesh principal JCT College presiding over the function.
Dr. G. Ramesh explained about the importance of having an association and also insisted students to actively participate in association activities in the future.
Dr. R. Kathiravan shared his work experiences on food safety and stressed the importance of it. He emphasized that having a safe food is the need of the hour. He also explained in detail about the functioning of food processing industries. He mentioned that in the upcoming years there is going to be huge demand for qualified food technologists.
He insisted the students to focus on association and other activities such as creating food safety awareness among people and vendors, visiting and understanding the functioning of food processing industries, participation in seminars, conferences and symposia etc., apart from focusing on studies alone. Entrepreneurship opportunities available in food sector were also explained by him clearly.
Earlier the office Barres of the association was introduced by Dr. S. Babuskin, HOD, who also proposed vote of thanks.
