The Faculty Development Program was started with the registration of other college faculty. Faculty members from KGiSL, Ramakrishna Institute of Technology came. Then the program started with the Tamil Thai Valthu, for which all faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Department and Principal of JCT College of Engineering and Technology along with external participants attended.
Then the first session was handled by Dr.Gosteeswaran of Mechanical Engineering Department, in which he gave a ppt presentation on various types of links, mechanisms, degree of freedom, and inversions of mechanisms. After that there was a tea break for ten minutes. Then the second session was started at 11.30 a.m. that was handled by Mr.Magesh, Associate professor, Mechanical Engineering Department. In this session he handled the topic cam giving the different contents like displacement diagram drawing of cam profile etc.. The session ended at 1.00 p.m. and soon after that went to the boys hostel mess to have the lunch.
The afternoon session started at 2.15 p.m. where Mr.Kavinraj, Associate professor of Mechanical engineering department gave an elaborate lecture on gears and gear trains. He explained with ppt and blackboard about the length of path of contact, arc of contact, contact ratio, interference and the types of gear trains. Also he derived the formulae and the way to solve a problem in gear trains. Then at 3.10 p.m. Mr.D.Joslin Vijaya, Associate professor of mechanical engineering department gave a lecture on the last unit of the syllabus, friction on various mechanical components. In this session he talked about the friction in screws, clutches, belts and brakes.
Then the program came to an end with the national anthem. After the national anthem certificates were distributed to all the participants. Thus the whole program came to an end with small refreshment.
