The Inaugural function of the Association of Petro Chemical Engineering ‘PEACE’13 was held at JCT College of Engineering & Technology, Pichanur, Coimbatore on 24.07.2013. The Inaugural Function opened its arms for a fresh chapter with newer, bigger challenges and responsibilities for the academic year 2013-14.
The Principal Dr. R. Saravanan, Trustee O.M. Manivel, Prof. R. Krishnaswamy, Dean & HOD of Petro Chemical Engineering and Student President Mr. Jeevan Vargese were present on the dais. Dr. T. Kannadasan, the Former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore and Professor and Head of Chemical Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore was the “Guest of honour” of the Inauguration Programme. The function started with a prayer and the lighting of lamp by the Dignitaries on the dais. Prof. R. Krishnaswamy welcomed the gathering and Mr. Michael Rahul, Assistant Professor of Petro Chemical Engineering introduced the Association office bearers to the audience.
The Presidential address was delivered by the Principal Dr. R. Saravanan. In his address, he stressed on the application of knowledge & theories and also the importance of Hard work. He emphasized that Education is not received but achieved. He strongly believed that “the Right attitude and Inter-personal skills are the keys for success”. He advised the students to develop their skills to “fit into Industries”.
The Chief Guest Dr. Kannadasan expressed his happiness to be the Guest of honour for PEACE ’13 and also congratulated the students for forming the association. He motivated the students and enlightened them on various Job opportunities in the field of Petrochemical Engineering. He invited novel ideas from the undergraduate students to solve the problems of Pollution in order to control the hazardous release of chemicals into the atmosphere. He appealed to the students to find out alterative arrangements to produce Power energy and to minimize the energy requirements to control pollution.
The Programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Balkis Ameen, Associate Professor, Department of Petrochemical Engineering.
