Two Days Faculty Development and Training Program
CS 6711 – SECURITY LAB
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a 2-Days Faculty Development and Training Programme on “CS 6711 – SECURITY LAB” on 28th and 29th June 2016, Tuesday and Wednesday for the faculty members, UG and PG students of CSE and IT department. Mr.R.S.Selvakumar, Software Engineer from Iriesh Software Solutions, Kerala was the technical trainer for the occasion. The program started with the inaugural function at the seminar hall, where the gathering have been addressed by Dr. G.Rajiv Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, CSE followed by the Presidential address addressed by Dr.G.Ramesh, our Principal and Vote of Thanks by Mr.K.Sivakumar.
Post the inaugural function is the start of the forenoon session of the first day, wherein the trainer demonstrated hands on training session on IDS(Intrusion Detection System) using the tool named SNORT, followed by the implementation of various substitution and transposition techniques and algorithms. The afternoon session had the training on the setup of honey pot (KF Sensor) and monitoring the same on the network. On the second day, installation of root kits and its study followed by the performance of wireless audit on an access point or a router and the decryption of WEP and WPA using Net Stumbler have been demonstrated. Finally, demonstrations on secure data storage and transmission using creation of digital signatures have been trained for all the academicians. The sessions were concluded with clarifying questions raised by faculty members and students along with the filling of feedback forms. At the end of the second day, certificates were distributed to the participants. The entire event was successfully coordinated by the faculties of the Department of CSE.
