JCT College of Engineering and Technology‘s 6th Annual Sports Day was held on 26.03.2015 Thursday at the college playground. The dignitaries present on the occasion were Thiru S.A Subramanian, Chairman JCTCET as the Chief Guest, Trustee Thiru O.M Manivelu, Dr.G.Ramesh, Principal graced the occasion.
The programme started with the welcome address by Principal. The College Chairman declared the sports meet open by hoisting the flag and accepting the march past honors. The Chairman lit the flame in the cauldron and handed it over to the champion of the college. The champions took the Olympic Oath followed by track and field events. Mr C.Mukesh Kumar, physical Director, presented the sports annual report for the academic year 2014-2015.
Chief Guest addressed on the sports day, I am happy to participate in our college sports day celebrations. Today I have witnessed that young and energetic boys and girls are actively participating in most of the events. “He emphasized the importance of nutrition by stating from the recent surveys that, more than 60% of children in India fall short of basic fitness criteria considered normal for their age. This is a disturbing trend that needs to be addressed by the people who matter – parents, educational institutions and the authorities”.
He also pointed out that Dr. George Selleck, a renowned American sports doctor, a sports education specialist, says that sports is not just for fun, it helps to build one’s self esteem and self confidence in order to become most accomplished person.
