The United Nations Organization has declared the 21st June 2015 to be observed as the first International Day of Yoga. In letter and spirit, 192 countries celebrated the first International Day of Yoga at their respective capitals. With majestic presence of Honorable Prime Minister of India, the celebration of Yoga Day was held at Yoga Path turned Rajpath in Newdelhi, our National Capital, on 21-06-2015.
As true citizens of our Mother India, the family of JCT college of Engineering and Technology has also observed the International Yoga Day organized by the Department Of Mechanical Engineering at seminar hall of JCT on 23rd June 2015 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of JCT participated in the well organized Yoga Day celebration.
Shri. T.S Mohanraj MA.,M.PEd.,M.Phil.,M.sc.,Ph.D., Director of Yazh Yoga Foundation, Coimbatore has graced the occasion as chief guest and delivered a memorable speech on “Pathanjali Yoga Practices”.
At the outset of his speech, what is yoga and the necessity for yoga, different types of yoga and their respective Asanas were explained to the participants. The origin of yoga, as it is explained, is related and dependent upon religion, location and language .Yoga comprises of mantharas and practicing of pranayama through five parts of our body. Chanting ‘om’ and practicing pathanjali yoga relieve one’s mind from his stress and strain. It followed by the meditation, which increases concentration and delivers peace and harmony to mind and body.The activities of the Yoga-Day celebration ended with laughing therapy making every participant feel happy.
