Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized a visit to TNSTC DEPOT, Pollachi, Coimbatore for II nd year and III rd year on 20th September 2018.

A BRIEF REPORT ON AN INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO TNSTC DEPOT

TNSTC Depot was located in pollachi. The visit programme was started in the college premises at 09.30 am by the college bus. We reached the company at 11.15 am and after having preliminary process, the visit was begun at 11.30 am along with two coordinator of the TNSTC employer.

OVERVIEW OF INDUSTRIAL VISIT:

Mainly the government bus body building, the engine service, connecting rod and piston manufacturing process, clutch assembly, brake assembly, sheet metal process, welding the plate for frame, painting and the components used in the heavy vehicles.

The students visited following sections;

• The engine (6 cylinder) used in the heavy vehicles like bus, and its operations. And also assemble the engine and dissemble the engine.
• The clutch plate and brake pad components and its assembly.
• Manufacturing of connecting rod and piston, its operations like boring, drilling, facing and cutting.
• Differential unit outer body and radiators functions.
• Body building of buses using a material like sheet metal and L-angle ,plate and a process like cutting a sheet metal, welding a plates for assembly the parts.
• Assembly of clutch,brake,front axle, rear axle.
• Servicing the damaged parts in the vehicle.

The visit was ended at 12.45 pm and we reached the college at 2.30 pm. The industrial visit was very useful for mechanical students.
