The Department of Mechanical Engineering, JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore organized a Seminar entitled “SMART MANUFACTURING” on 05.08.2025 for imparting fundamental knowledge of Smart Manufacturing in Mechanical Industries.Dr.G.Mahesh, Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering delivered the welcome address and Mr.R.Mahendran,AP/Mech invited the Chief Guest. The resource person explained the importance and significance of Smart Manufacturing in Mechanical Industries. He also explained that Smart Manufacturing is a transformative approach that integrates advanced technologies, data analytics and innovative processes to create a more efficient, flexible and responsive manufacturing system.

He also pointed out that the Smart Manufacturing optimizes production processes, reducing waste and improving productivity. Also, Smart manufacturing is a key component of Industry 4.0, which aims to create a more connected, automated and efficient industrial ecosystem. Smart manufacturing creates new job opportunities in areas like data science, robotics and cybersecurity, while also requiring workers to develop new skills. It can help reduce environmental impact by optimizing energy consumption, reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices. Smart manufacturing can contribute to economic growth by increasing productivity, competitiveness and innovation. Totally, more than 75 students and 12 faculty members attended the programme. Dr.M.
