The Department of Mechanical Engineering, JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore organized a One-day Workshop entitled “Innovative Design Approaches in Modern Machinery” on 19.02.2026 for imparting fundamental knowledge of Innovative Design in Mechanical Industries. Dr.M.Bhuvaneshwaran, Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering delivered the welcome address and Mr.R.Mahendran,AP/Mech invited the Chief Guest. The resource person explained the importance and significance of Design in Mechanical Industries. He also explained that Innovative design approaches in modern machinery are transforming industrial production by focusing on intelligence, sustainability and flexibility.

Key trends include the integration of AI-driven generative design, additive manufacturing, IoT-enabled real-time monitoring and modular, human-centric layouts. He also pointed out that this allows for the creation of complex, lightweight, and customized components with minimal waste, facilitating rapid prototyping and the production of complex geometries, such as internal cooling channels. Also, These approaches are driven by the need for higher productivity, reduced energy consumption and increased customization in industries ranging from automotive to agriculture. Totally, more than 75 students and 12 faculty members attended the programme. Prof.D.AnandaKumar, AP/Mech proposed the vote of thanks.
