The Department of Petroleum Engineering at JCT College of Engineering and Technology, under the guidance of Dr. K. Ramachandran, HoD/PE, successfully organized a webinar titled “A Comprehensive Overview of Cementing: From Slurry Preparation to Job Evaluation” on 25th September 2025 at the JCTCET Seminar Hall. The session was also made accessible online via Google Meet for virtual participants.

The webinar featured Mr. Balaji Kumar, Field Service Supervisor – Cementing, Halliburton Worldwide, Abu Dhabi, UAE, as the resource person. Mr. Balaji Kumar provided in-depth insights into cementing operations, covering the preparation of cement slurries, job evaluation techniques, and best practices in the field. The session served as an excellent learning platform for students, faculty, and industry aspirants to understand real-world applications of petroleum engineering concepts.

Students gained clear and practical knowledge of:

• Cement slurry design and additives

• Slurry preparation and mixing procedures

• Key cementing equipment and field practices

• Primary cementing techniques for well integrity

• Job evaluation methods such as bond logs and pressure tests
