JCT College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous) - Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering and “Coimbatore Cancer Society” jointly organized a successful “Cancer Awareness Program” on February 3, 2026 at the JCT Seminar Hall.

The program, held on the occasion of World Cancer Day (February 4), was themed “United by Unique”. The Principal of the College, Dr. S. Manoharan, delivered the keynote address.

In this, detailed awareness speeches were given on the causes of cancer, early detection, prevention methods and modern treatment methods. “Medical experts from the Coimbatore Cancer Society” participated and created awareness among the students.

Expressing humanity and social responsibility; in the presence of the college principal, Dr. S. Manoharan, the students of the Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, JCT donated Rs. 5,000 to a cancer patient. It was reported that this donation was given for the treatment and support of cancer patients. This act of the students was appreciated by the public.

Dr. G. Gnanavel acted as the coordinator of this program. Dr. K. V. Selvakumar, Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, led the program. Professors, students and invitees participated in large numbers and made the program special.
