The Departments of Mechanical Engineering, JCT College of Engineering and Technology, organized and celebrated the “Engineer’s Navaratri Golu Fest” on 22 September 2025. The event began at 10:00 AM and was held under the theme of integrating engineering creativity with cultural tradition. Navaratri is a vibrant festival celebrated with Golu, the traditional display of dolls and figurines. This event combined the cultural significance of Golu with mechanical engineering principles to create eco-friendly, moving models made from discarded and waste materials. The theme “Waste to Wealth” emphasized sustainability by transforming everyday waste into functional and decorative models, promoting recycling and environmental consciousness.
The main objective of the event was to design mechanical models for Golu using waste materials while incorporating engineering concepts such as levers, pulleys, gears, and rotational motion. It aimed to foster creativity, practical skills, and sustainable design practices among students. This initiative successfully integrated traditional culture with mechanical engineering, demonstrating that creativity and sustainability can coexist. The “Waste to Wealth” approach not only reduced waste but also encouraged innovative thinking in engineering design.
Students gained practical exposure to mechanical principles while promoting environmental awareness. Faculty members and students from both departments actively participated, contributing models and decorations that made the Golu display a vibrant and engaging event.
