The Department of Petroleum Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at JCT College of Engineering and Technology, successfully organized an Awareness Workshop on Entrepreneurship & Innovation as Career Opportunities on 25th November 2025, Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall.

The workshop aimed at empowering students with knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation, and emerging career opportunities in the petroleum and energy sectors. It highlighted the importance of innovative thinking, industry-relevant skills, and entrepreneurial mindset for future professionals.

Dr. Ramachandran K, ED Cell Co-ordinator, served as the resource person for the session. His interactive session provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of entrepreneurship, key industry trends, and the role of innovation in driving economic growth. Students actively participated in discussions, exploring pathways to convert innovative ideas into sustainable business ventures.

The event also emphasized the alignment of entrepreneurship and innovation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:

• Quality Education (SDG 4)

• Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8)

• Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9)

• Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)

The workshop was coordinated by Mr. V. Purushothaman, AP/PE, and marked another successful initiative by the department in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among students. This initiative reflects the department's commitment to preparing students not only as skilled engineers but also as future innovators and entrepreneurs contributing to the global energy landscape.
