“INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION” was organized on 08.03.2023 by the Women Empowerment & Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Cell at JCT college of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. The celebration started at 10.00 am by lighting the Kuthuvilakku. All the Heads of various Departments, Faculty members and girl students from various departments attended the programme.

Welcome address was given by Ms.M.Bhuvanika, I year AI&DS. Following that, Presidential address was given by Principal, Dr.S.Manoharan and he mentioned the importance of Women’s day celebration. All the women chief guests from various fields shared their views and in morning session Chief guest Hr.Y.UshaSree, Divine Healing Hands, Hyderabad delivered a special speech about Physical activity and Exercise for Women and Girls.

Our next chief guest Dr.J.Saradha, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Coimbatore, explained the reason for celebrating the Women’s day. After that Mrs.S.Reena, Advocate, Joint Secretary of Coimbatore Bar Association, Coimbatore, delivered the speech about women and law and also insisted about the importance of women in our society.

Followed by her our next chief guest was Dr.S.AntonySelvi, Professor and HoD, Department of Physiology, Raja Dental College, Kavalkinaru, Tirunelveli District. She delivered a speech about “Food Awareness for Youth”. In afternoon session chief guest was Mrs.V.Vijayalakshmi, Asst commandant in CRPF, Kishtwar, Kashmir and in her speech she spoke about women’s role in army and she motivated young girls to join Army.

Our next chief guest was Dr.Jess Bennett, Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, North East of England. She insisted that each and every woman should be happy always. Following that Mrs.V.Kalpana, Director & Promoter of Victory E-Services Pvt.Ltd, Pondicherry delivered a speech about gender equality and how a women can become an Entrepreneur.

Our Alumini Mrs.Deepika Ramalingam, Verification Engineer, Maxvy Technologies, Bengaluru, was our next speaker and in her speech she insisted how young girls should achieve their goals. Our next Chief Guest was Anju K S IAS, Director in Scheduled Caste Development Department and Agriculture, Farmers Welfare Department, Kerala. She insisted in her speech regarding how women are sexually exploited in the society and how to safeguard themselves. With this all the chief guests from various fields gave their valuable points.

On behalf of International Women’s Day Celebration - 2023 various events like Sports, Musical Chair, Mehndi, Dance, choreography and music were conducted from March 1st onwards for students and women faculty. Students showed much interest and participated in the events. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Totally 160 girl students and 30 women faculty members have actively took part in this event. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.B.Fenisha Princess IV Year ECE and Women’s Day Celebration came to an end with the National Anthem.
