The Department of Food Technology in association with Jfinagles2K18, organized National Conference on “Nutritional Security through Research & Development in Food – NUTRO’2018” on 23rd March 2018. The Dean (Food Technology), Prof. Krishnaswamy welcomed the gatherings. The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. N Gopalan, Scientist F and Joint Director Defence Food Research Laboratory, DRDO, Mysore along with Thiru. S. Mohankumar, Plant Manager, Senthil Papain and Food Products (P) Ltd, Coimbatore at 10.00 A.M. Dr. G. Ramesh, Principal, JCT College of Engg and Technology presided over the function.
Dr. N Gopalan, Scientist F, DFRL, DRDO, Mysore explained the need for food Security. The rise in population and conflict has raised the need for such food security. He explained the different ways of attaining food security and achievements made by the DFRL, DRDO, Mysore. He has insisted students to more research and to publish more journal papers. Thiru. S. Mohankumar, Plant Manager, Senthil Papain and Food Products (P) Ltd, Coimbatore then insisted the students to actively participate in the conferences and seminar and widen their knowledge in the field of Food Technology. He has also asked the students to dream of the task, that they need to accomplish. Good thought and profound thinking of the foreseeable future would make them to shine in their life.
The Paper and poster presentations were completed and the non-technical Photography completion was held. The HOWZAT trophy winners were awarded with Trophy’s and prizes.The valedictory function was conducted at 3.00 P.M and the prizes and certificates were distributed to award winners. Mrs. S. Sujithra AP/FT delivered the vote of thanks and the conference, NUTRO’2018 ended with fruitful outcome on creating awareness among students and delegates on Food Security.
