On December 2, 2024, The Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering at JCT College of Engineering and Technology (JCT CET) in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an interaction session with the students of BTBCE to mark “National Pollution Control Day”, this session was held at BTBCE department at 3:00 PM.

The session focused on the growing environmental concern surrounding single-use plastics and their impact on our planet.Dr.G.Gnanavel, elaborated on the challenges posed by single-use plastics, emphasizing how their excessive use contributes to pollution, particularly in oceans and landfills. He highlighted the urgent need for sustainable alternatives and shared recent research on how reducing plastic consumption can positively affect ecosystems and human health.

The students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about practical solutions to minimize plastic usage, such as transitioning to biodegradable materials and adopting responsible recycling practices. Dr.K.V Selvakumar Head, BTBCE and Dr.G.Gnanavel also encouraged them to take personal responsibility for spreading awareness and reducing plastic waste in their daily lives.The event was an eye-opener for many students, igniting a renewed sense of urgency in combating plastic pollution and promoting eco-friendly habits.
