The welcome address was given by Dr.G.Rajiv Suresh Kumar, Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The chief guest first gave an introduction about the “How to prepare for an interview”which gave everyone a clear view to manage the queries with appropriate answers for the situation. She then explained about the common questions arises during an interview by illustrating a video.

She explained well on how to be successful in an interview as a candidate. She went through each step of an interview with examples and tips: how to prepare for an interview, communication, number of interviews and focus areas in each interview, How to present yourself, common questions, closing of interview, etc. She unveiled what recruiters are really looking for: qualification, consistency, trustworthiness, insight of strengths and areas for improvements, and motivation through an example of another video.

She said the first thing to do is to introduce yourself with a smile, a handshake that matches the firmness of the interviewer’s, and a relaxed and self-assured demeanor. Greet others on the panel and follow the interviewer’s lead to sit down or to head elsewhere. A weak handshake, shows a lack of authority. An averted gaze signals distrust or disinterest in the job. Show assertiveness by sitting up straight and leaning slightly forward in your chair. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer without making things awkward.

She insisted about the time management and punctuality. She said that the First impressions are important in job interviews. If appropriate, ask ahead of time about what to wear. The safe bet is to dress professionally, paying attention to grooming, colors, and accessories. She also added to arrive for your interview about thirty minutes early. Give yourself enough time to reach the location. Rushing will affect your interview performance. She reminded us end the session with asking question to interviewer.
