Training on Technology Commercialization, Licensing & Transfer Practices & Procedures-2025

The Department of Food Technology at JCT College of Engineering and Technology organized a seminar on 26th November 2025 titled “Training on Technology Commercialization, Licensing & Transfer Practices & Procedures” under the IIC Sub-Theme: R&D Awareness and Capacity Building. The program aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the processes involved in converting research outcomes into commercially viable technologies, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

The event commenced with a welcome address, followed by an insightful session delivered by the resource person, Dr. A. Allwyn Sundaraj, Associate Professor, Department of Food Technology, JCT College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), Coimbatore. He provided an in-depth overview of technology commercialization pathways, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patent filing, licensing models, Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), and procedures involved in technology transfer. His presentation emphasized the importance of innovation, research translation, and industry collaboration in the food technology sector.

The session was conducted in hybrid mode, enabling participation from both on-campus and online attendees. Students actively interacted with the resource person, clarifying their doubts about patenting, licensing, and transforming innovative ideas into market-ready products.

The event was coordinated by Ms. N. Jamunasri, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Technology, and convened by Dr. P. Balamurugan, Professor and Head, Department of Food Technology. The coordinator delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty members, and student participants for their support and active involvement.

This program provided an informative and engaging platform for students to understand the significance of technology commercialization and the steps involved in protecting and transferring innovative technologies. It strengthened their awareness of the innovation ecosystem and encouraged them to pursue research-driven solutions in the field of food technology.
