Two Days Workshop on the Topic “Internet of Things”

The Department of Electrical and Electronics organized a two days workshop program sponsored by JCT college of engineering and technology from 21.09.2017 to 22.09.2017 on the topic “Internet of Things”. The Inaugural ceremony of this FDP was conducted on 21.09.2017. Mr.K.Sasikumar, Sr.CRG Engineer & Mr.Dhanush, CRG Engineer Prolific Systems, Coimbatore was the chief guest of the function. Mr. V. Jethose, HoD-EEE welcomed the chief guests and the gathering.
90 participants from Department of EEE registered for the program. On the first day of the workshop, Mr.K.Sasikumar delivered a seminar on the topic “Internet of Things” for an hour. He covered the topics on IOT Application Architecture, IOT Communication Layer, Network Protocols. His wide experience and knowledge is reflected in the seminar.
After that the hands-on training was conducted by Mr.K.Sasikumar & Mr. Dhanush on the same topics using Arduino & Proteus 7.2 software. The compilation and execution was done by every student individually with PC provided from our college laboratory.
On the second day of the workshop, 22.09.2017, hands-on training was continued on the topics Raspberry PI, Arduino, Wireless & Bluetooth and explained about the industrial applications in a meticulous manner. The session also includes the interface of arduino with motor and other devices. Students were trained individually to operate the external devices through WiFi and GSM. The sessions were completely practical and core oriented.
The workshop was so effective, practical and students gained more knowledge about “Internet of Things”. The students of department of EEE were benefited largely. This Hands-on training is very helpful for our final year students to do project in their final semester.
The Principal and Management thanked the resource persons who conducted the workshop efficiently.
