Day 2 - 06-01-2025

The Department of Civil Engineering at JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, organized a specialized one-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on January 6, 2026. The program addressed the critical and timely theme: "Design for the Environment (DFE) in Construction. The primary objective of this FDP was to bridge the gap between academic theory and global industrial standards in sustainable construction, focusing on reducing the environmental footprint of infrastructure through proactive design.Dr.V.Murugesh, Head of the Department (HoD), Civil Engineering, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. He highlighted the department's commitment to promoting sustainable engineering practices and the necessity of such programs for modern educators.Prof. RJagedeswari introduced the resource person, Ms.VarshaRamharak. She emphasized the guest's extensive background in international HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards and her leadership role in the Caribbean region.

Ms.Varsha Ramharak shared her global expertise on integrating environmental considerations into the very first stages of a construction project. Key highlights of her technical session included Life Cycle Thinking,Sustainable Material Selection, Waste Minimization. The FDP saw active participation from faculty members representing various engineering colleges. The diverse group engaged in a vibrant Q&A session, discussing the implementation of Caribbean and international HSE benchmarks within the Indian construction context. The program successfully sensitized the participants to the importance of proactive environmental design in civil engineering.Prof.Hari G.S. delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management for their support, the resource person for her invaluable insights from the Caribbean sector, and the participants for their enthusiastic involvement.

Day 3 - 07-01-2025

The Department of Civil Engineering at JCT College of Engineering and Technology organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Green Building: A Path for Sustainability" on January 7, 2026. The program aimed to enlighten educators on the evolving strategies of sustainable construction and the critical role of green building certifications in modern engineering. The session commenced with a warm Welcome Address by Prof. Reshma PD, who highlighted the necessity of integrating eco-friendly practices into the academic curriculum. Following the welcome, Prof. D. Arul Ganapathy introduced the Chief Guest, providing an overview of his extensive experience in international project management and sustainable infrastructure.

The technical session was delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Imed Krayem, TSPM Project Manager. With his deep expertise in project management and sustainable development, Mr. Krayem provided a comprehensive roadmap for achieving carbon neutrality through construction. The FDP saw active engagement from faculty members representing various reputed engineering colleges. The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to discuss the challenges of implementing green building codes in local contexts and how to bridge the gap between theoretical sustainability and practical field application. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. V. Murugesh, Head of the Department (HoD), Civil Engineering. He expressed gratitude to the management, the resource person, and the participants for making the event a success. He emphasized that such programs are vital for faculty to stay updated with global industrial standards.

Day 4 - 08-01-2025

The Department of Civil Engineering at JCT College of Engineering and Technology successfully organized a one-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on January 8, 2026. The program featured the innovative and futuristic topic: "Fission Energy and Liquid Fission Machines: Power Pathways for a Net Zero Future."

This FDP was designed to explore the intersection of advanced nuclear technology and civil infrastructure, focusing on how liquid fission reactors can serve as a cornerstone for global decarbonization and sustainable energy security Dr. V. Murugesh, Head of the Department (HoD), Civil Engineering, welcomed the participants. He discussed the evolving landscape of the construction industry, emphasizing that civil engineers must now design for complex energy infrastructures like next-generation nuclear plants.Prof. R. Jagedeswari introduced the session's core themes and the resource person's expertise in sustainable energy pathways, highlighting the shift from traditional fossil fuels to advanced fission technologies. The session delved into the mechanics and structural requirements of Liquid Fission MachinesThe FDP saw a diverse turnout, with faculties from various engineering colleges attending. The interdisciplinary nature of the topic sparked significant interest, leading to a deep discussion on how civil engineering curricula can adapt to include the structural requirements of advanced energy projects. The program concluded with a reflection on the role of academia in driving the net-zero agenda through research and specialized training.Prof. Sadhasivam M. delivered the vote of thanks. He extended his gratitude to the college management for facilitating such high-level technical discourse and thanked the participating faculty for their active engagement in the Q&A sessions.
