Board of Studies Meeting of B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering held on 13.02.2026 at the Seminar Hall, JCTCET Dr.Karthikumar.S, Chairman of the Board of Studies, started the meeting by welcoming and introducing the external members.
The Chairman presented the suggestions from the previous BOS meeting, along with the implemented corrections and the updated curriculum and syllabi. He then presented the syllabus for all courses in the fifth and sixth semesters, prepared by the internal BOS members
The following points were suggested by the meeting members:
• The Anna University nominee suggested that to include latest edition of text books and reference books in syllabus.
• The Anna University nominee also suggested that depends on students strategy total hours of integrated subjects can be <45 hrs.
• The experts suggested repeatedly about cadence tool can be used for VLSI and chip design. Because it will be easier to use.
• The expert team suggested to remove the brand names like Arduino and Raspberrypi and advised to include the general micro controllers in the syllabus.
• The industry expert suggested that to include RTL design , functional verification, physical design and static timing using Verilog in the VLSI syllabus if possible.
• The experts suggested that to include fundamentals of nanoelectronics subject into the VLSI domain and wide bandgap devices subject from VLSI domain to sensor technologies and IoT.
• The experts suggested to sign more MoUs regarding students placements.
• In domain II-signal processing the experts suggested to combine the 2 subjects image processing and speech processing as a single subject.
• In semester V and VI, the experts suggested to add mandatory course name in the curriculum.
• In domain VI-space technologies, the experts suggested to introduce Airbus technology.
• The experts suggested, predicting the future requirements for students to allocate the subjects for placements.
• The industrial expert inquired about the participation of recruiters in framing the syllabus to meet industry requirements. The Chairman provided a detailed explanation about the same.
• The experts suggested including practical oriented experiments in biomedical domain.
• Overall the experts suggested matching the blooms, suggested to go through all the subjects syllabus with their outcomes.
After discussions, the BOS of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering recommended the curricula and the fifth- and sixth-semester syllabus of B.E. ECE for students admitted from the Academic year 2025-2026 under Autonomous Regulations 2024, with the above modifications, for approval by the Academic Council.
The Chairman of BOS, Dr. Karthikumar.S, proposed a vote of thanks. He individually thanked the BOS members for their valuable input on the course. He also expressed gratitude to the industrial experts and other board members for their active participation in the curriculum and syllabus discussions.
