Back

On 4th May 2025, the Department of Petroleum Engineering successfully conducted Day 3 of the Expert Talk Series, a signature initiative aimed at providing students with insights into cutting-edge technologies and industry practices. The session, held under the theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a focus on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (Goal 9) and Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17), featured a distinguished expert, Mr. K.P. Ramachandran, General Manager, ONGC, Rajasthan.

Mr. Ramachandran, with his vast experience in petroleum exploration and production, delivered an enlightening talk on “Understanding Well Testing – Implications.” He delved into the critical aspects of well testing, emphasizing its significance in evaluating reservoir performance, optimizing production, and ensuring the economic viability of oil and gas projects. His comprehensive explanation covered the key methodologies used in well testing, including pressure transient analysis, production testing, and drill stem testing. The session also highlighted the interpretation of well test data to assess reservoir properties, detect formation damages, and make informed decisions on field development.

The event was coordinated seamlessly by Mr. K. Janardhanan, Assistant Professor, and Mr. M. Praveen, Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Engineering. Their efforts ensured a well-structured and interactive session that encouraged students to actively engage with the speaker. The talk was convened under the leadership of Dr. K.
