JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Pichanur, organized an orientation program “Aarunya 2025” on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the JCTCET Auditorium to welcome the first-year students.
The event began with a prayer song and lighting of the traditional Kuthuvilakku, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. K. Mohana Pandian, HoD – Department of Science and Humanities. Following that, Thiru. R. Durga Shankar, Secretary/Trustee of JCT Institutions, delivered the keynote address stating, "We are not divided by caste, but united by knowledge." He emphasized that education is not merely about obtaining a degree, but also about developing knowledge and practicing discipline.
Dr. S. Manoharan, Principal, felicitated the gathering and encouraged the students to embrace opportunities for academic and personal growth. Heads of various departments were introduced by Dr. Karthikumar.S, Director IQAC and Head of ECE department to the new students to familiarize them with the academic environment. Dr.B. Balraj, Head of EEE department & Dr.K. Ramachandran, Head of Petroleum department introduced the Chief guests to the Occasion.
The distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Hariram Satheesh, Principal Scientist & Manager, R&D Team, ABB Global Industries and Services Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. In his speech, he pointed out the experiences of his life and explained how they should be turned into advantages. He also elaborated on the roles of parents, students, teachers, and the college administration in shaping the future of the students.
Ms. Ankita Mehra, Employer Brand and University Relations, ABB Global Industries and Services Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, delivered inspiring addresses highlighting the role of engineering graduates in driving technological advancement and industry collaborations.
Dr.V. Jethose, Head of AIDS department had the privilege of introducing the Guest of Honor, Mr. K. Muthukumaran, Tamil orator and Big Boss Title Winner (2025), Vijay TV, who motivated the students with his dynamic speech on self-confidence and perseverance and he used a short story to explain how students should face college life with courage.
The program concluded with the introduction of first-year faculty members by Dr.K. Selvakumar, Head of BTBC department and a vote of thanks by Dr. G. Magesh, HoD – Mechanical Engineering, and the rendition of the National Anthem.
The management, faculty, and senior students extended a heartfelt welcome to the fresh batch, marking the beginning of their academic journey at JCT College of Engineering and Technology.
INTERACTION WITH THE TUTOR (CONCERN CLASS ROOM)
The student approached the tutor with a concern about their recent understanding of the material. The student politely explained that they had been struggling to grasp some of the concepts discussed in the last few lectures, particularly the topic of data analysis. Although they had reviewed the lecture slides and textbook, certain parts still felt unclear.
The tutor listened attentively and appreciated the student’s honesty and initiative in seeking help. They discussed the specific areas the student found challenging, and the tutor offered to go over a few practical examples during office hours. Additionally, the tutor recommended some supplementary resources and suggested a follow-up session later in the week. The student thanked the tutor for their support and agreed to attend the extra session, feeling more confident about improving their understanding with the additional guidance. The student politely expressed that they were having difficulty understanding certain topics covered in recent lectures, particularly those involving complex theories and their real-world applications. Despite reviewing the course materials and attempting the assigned readings, they continued to struggle and felt their performance might be affected. The tutor listened attentively and commended the student for taking initiative to seek help. In response, the tutor offered to arrange additional support through office hours or small group sessions and recommended a few supplementary resources to reinforce the learning. The student appreciated the guidance and agreed to attend the extra sessions, feeling more assured about their ability to catch up and improve. This interaction reflected a positive and proactive approach to learning, highlighting the importance of communication between students and tutors in a college setting.
