Objective:

Professional development for teachers according to the department vision & mission with reference to the curriculum.

A faculty development programme was organized from 01st to 07th February, 2023 by Department of Petroleum Engineering, JCT College of Engineering and Technology, on “Energy Trends and Virtual Challenges in Current Scenario.” This was a seven days Virtual Faculty Development Programme where various related subtopics were discussed in detail by eminent speakers and a very beneficial academic environment was experienced by the participants. The FDP was started on 01st February, 2023. The dignitaries were welcomed by the HOD of the Petroleum Engineering Department Dr. S. Venkatesh Babu.

The first technical session was on the topic Shale Gas Reservoir Modelling with Simulation and the guest speaker was Dr. Vamsi Krishna Kudupa, Assistant professor in department of Petroleum Engineering, UPES Dehradun. He discussed various reservoir models in shale gas reservoirs and current challenges in gas energy sector. He focused mainly on modelling area on gas reservoirs, which has lot of scope in gas energy industries.

Second day Dr. N. Haribabu who is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Calicut discussed the use of technology in Microbial Fuel Cells. He also discussed the latest trends which are observed in various institutes and the perception of scientists regarding the same. The lecture was very beneficial and provided an insight on the various challenges associated which fuel cells has to overcome.

On Third day, Dr. U. K. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Jaipur discussed about Bimolecular Engineering Concepts. His research outcomes were well portrayed. The significance of Molecular Engineering in this era was well received by participants.

Fourth day, Dr. Venkata Ramana Avula, Associate Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Godavari Institute of Engineering Technology, Guntur have given his insights on Gas Hydrates. How the phase behavior changes has been highlights of his topic. There were number of research ideas were discussed between the participants and speaker.

Fifth day, Mr. Sabharathinam S, Retried Manager TNCEM, Tamil Nadu cement has given his talk on Review in field Geology. He has shared his experience as a field geologist to the participants. He signified the importance on field knowledge in Petroleum engineering. How to discover the solutions for field related issues and role of Earth Sciences in today’s leading energy industries has been stated by the speaker.

Sixth day, Mr. Abhishek Ranjan, Assistant Professor in department of Petroleum Engineering, Chandigarh University, Chandigarh discussed on the challenges related to drilling industry. He emphasized on IT manifestation upon drilling companies and the benefits of understanding current trends in drilling technology.

On seventh day participants were allowed to share their insights regarding the event topic. The session went productively by exchanging ideas between participants and finally Dr. M.J.A. Prince, Event coordinator have conclude by thanking every one.
