The Department of Petrochemical and Petroleum Engineering of JCT CET organized a two days workshop on “Avenues and Opportunities for Petrochemical and Petroleum Engineers in India & Abroad” during 22nd and 23rd January, 2014. Many academicians and Industrial experts in the field of Petroleum explorations and Petrochemical field delivered lectures on the upcoming opportunities nationally and internationally for engineers with exposures and specialization in Petroleum field. Dr. T. Kannadasan, HOD – Chemical Engineering, CIT and former VC in-charge, Anna University, Coimbatore explained the potential of employment opportunities and research, career prospectus for graduates in Petroleum Engineering. Shri. Balasubramanian, Executive Engineer, PWD expressed the environmental concern and challenges to be solved for cleaner planet earth, thereby over coming Petroleum spillage and exhaust gases due to fossil fuel burning. Dr.K.SenthilKumar, Dean – R&D, Erode Senkunthar Engineering College, Dr.V.M. Sivakumar, Asst. Prof. – Chemical Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Dr. K. Kannan, Asso. Prof. – Chemical Engineering, Kongu Engineering College explained the global demand for Petroleum Industry.
Dr. D. Mohan, Director – Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University, Chennai stressed the need for FDP of trained faculties and research community for meeting the growing demand of personal in the oil and gas industry.
The second day witnessed hands on training on latest equipments available in the Petrochemical Engineering Department of JCT CET and the participant were given an opportunity to conduct experiments on some of the fuel testing and unit process lab. A video presentation on upstream and downstream processing techniques in the Petroleum industry by the faculty of JCT CET was made.
The valediction and prize distribution was presided over by Dr. G. Ramesh, Principal, JCT CET.Nearly 150 polytechnic students from all over the country participated in this workshop. Dr. G. Ramesh, Principal, JCT CET, Thiru. O.M. Manivelu, Trustee, JCT CET, Prof. N. Krishnaswamy, Dean, Petrochemical Engineering, faculty and students of Petrochemical and Petroleum Engineering participated in this two days workshop.
