The Department of Mechanical Engineering of JCT College of Engineering and Technology organized its first association function on 25th July 2013 which was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Rajagopal, Center Head, Indian Statistical Institute (SQC & OR Unit) Coimbatore.

Dr. R. Saravanan Principal, Dr. Thiruchitrambalam, Dean of Mechanical Science and Dr. S. R. Rajabalayanan, HOD of Mechanical Engineering were present on the Dais. The function started with a Prayer and the lighting of Lamp by the Dignitaries on the Dais. Dr. S. R. Rajabalayanan welcomed the gathering.

This inaugural Function was a memorable day to the students of Mechanical Engineering who were inspired by his thought provoking speech. He threw light on the importance of statistics in the filed of Engineering and Industrial world. Besides, he postulated that it is a war of information not war of technology and he also explained the salient features of statistics of Bio-informatics and Human genome. On the other hand, he eulogized the greatness of Prof.Mahalanobis who is the father of statistics and his birthday which is being celebrated as a National Statistical day.

He urged the budding scholars to pay due attention to collect and analyze statistical information. He also stressed the need of statistical information on traceable Bio-informatics for speculating their future and preventing the uncertainty.

The Presidential address was delivered by the Principal Dr. R. Saravanan. In his address he insisted that the students need to have six levels of learning outcomes which are the ability to remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create. He also advised the student’s fraternity to acquire their knowledge pragmatically.

The Programme ended with the Vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anto Dhilip, Joint Secretary of the Association.

The students of Mechanical Engineering donated a good amount of Cash to YRC Club.
