Petroleum Engineering is emerging as dominant field specializing in the exploration, transportation and refining of petroleum crude. There are ample opportunities for petroleum engineers in India and foreign countries particularly in gulf and Saudi Arabian oil fields.
Mr. C. Sarath Kumar, Chief Divisional Officer (South Zone), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Inaugurating The Petroleum Engineering Association, on 21.08.14 outlined the training potential for Petroleum Engineers. In India the Off-shore and On-shore drilling operations need expertise of manpower. The refining operations needs design skills and manpower with piping and pipeline design. JCT College of Engineering is the premier institutions offering B.E-Petroleum Engineering and B.E-Petrochemical with most sophisticated laboratories and faculty. The distribution of gas and petroleum products like gasoline, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuels needs filling and distribution network throughout India. The safety aspects to contain effluent and environmental pollution needs research on remediation of petroleum products spillages.
The consumption of fuel is increasing day by day and to cater the needs of users and distribution system, highly qualified engineers are needed. The technology of refining and multiple product ranges need updated instrumentation. The quality control and optimization of and integration of pollution free technologies. The petroleum engineers are trained in this prospective and hope the JCT Petroleum engineers association will impart all required qualities to the students.
