Recent Advances in Engineering Equipments and Instruments

Addressing the faculty participants from Engineering Colleges during the one day workshop on “Recent Advances in Engineering Equipments and Instruments” held on 27th August 2013, Shri. S. A. Subramanian, Chairman of JCT College of Engineering and Technology, stressed the need for updating the laboratory equipments and laboratory instructions to meet the challenging requirements of trained manpower in the industrial sector and also in the R & D organizations. The advanced laboratory equipments and instruments can be used not only for instructions to the students but also for giving consultancy services to the industrial units around the region. In this context he stated that good instruments and analytical facilities are procured for the upcoming Departments of Petroleum Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering to fulfill the scenario in the global technological developments.

Dr. R. Saravanan, Principal, welcomed the participants and explained the steps taken by the college in updating the laboratory facilities in par with the institutions of higher learning like NITs, IITs and research organizations. By doing this, the students are given an opportunity to explore their analytical and logical capabilities to enhance their creativity. Research and development activities are also encouraged among faculty. The possibility of shaping a technocrat universally acceptable is achieved.

The workshop was sponsored by Concord Instruments Pvt. Ltd., Chennai and K. C. Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Ambala. The Concord Instruments presented their range of products for Chemical, Petrochemical, Civil, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering disciplines. The K. C. Engineers presented their range of products and explained their total engineering solutions and a demo on Advances in Engineering Instrumentation was followed.

After the Tea-break, a panel discussion of the participants about their experience, feedback and suggestions was held.

Dr. R. Saravanan, Principal, Thiru. O. M. Manivelu, Trustee and Prof. N. Krishnaswamy, Dean and Head of the Department of Petrochemical Engineering felicitated. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks and national anthem.
